Colonial Beach Planning Commission has formed a committee to create an ordinance on short term rentals. My fear is this will be done in a bubble and citizens will not be provided real opportunity to give input. Please post any comments you have about what you think should be considered, regarding restrictions, taxes, or any other things you would like to see done with these businesses in CB and I will forward them to the committee. I've heard they plan to send something to council as early as June. You can send your feedback to dwilliams@colonialbeachva.gov

What is the current consensus from the Planning Commission? Are they for egregious regulations? Are they looking at appropriate areas for short term rentals like the areas on the point? Are they looking to prohibit short term rentals in the areas where most of the fulltime residents live like the North part of town? I hope someone shares what the current thoughts are soon.

Replying to

Eddie, It was not clear from the PC meeting but tab E is Ordinance the Committee started with (see link) https://www.colonialbeachva.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_04052023-95 and "business friendly" was the primary committee comment, also stated a lot of changes to the draft ordinance were already made. Very vague but hope more will be shared soon.
